LeBron James Criticized For Warmup Dunks

Miami Heat star LeBron James may stop his pre-game dunk display if criticism continues. Fans have complained that he is unwilling to participate in the NBA’s annual dunk contest, even though he is able to put on a show of the quality typically seen in the contest, which is held during All-Star Weekend. James, the league’s reigning MVP for three consecutive years, says he never wanted to be a distraction to his team and fans.

Maybe I should stop because it’s making a lot of people mad about what I do. They’re like, ‘Well, if you can do it in warm-ups, why don’t you [want to] be in the dunk contest?’ Stop it.

— LeBron James

All of this was reported by ESPN in an article today. What do you think? Has the league become too focused on show to the extent that fans and players can no longer concentrate on winning games? “We have a little epidemic right now. It’s kind of like the Harlem Shake.” said James of his teammates participation in his routine.
